170 GSM / 65 lbs Weight

What is paper weight and why does it matter?

While there are many ways to assess the quality of printing paper, grams per square meter (GSM) is one of the most widely used standards.

GSM is a measure of the weight of various types of paper when cut into a sample size of one square meter, or about 3.3 by 3.3 feet.

A newspaper will typically weigh in at around 45 GSM, and your typical printer paper will come in at about 90 GSM.

At True North, we pride ourselves on outstanding handcrafted quality by carefully selecting only the highest tier raw materials - as such, we print our art on 170 GSM specialty archival photo paper (which has the added benefit of being sustainably sourced).

This paper is thick, robust, and heavy to the touch. It is extremely durable and is coated with specially designed color pigment receptors to ensure long-lasting print jobs and vibrant colors for years to come.

Archival Quality

Professional giclée printing is as much an artform as it is a science. It's time to get technical.

When building True North, we knew from the very beginning that using the highest quality poster paper would be one of our top priorities, even if it meant more expensive raw materials costs.

Because of its saturation and resistance to fingerprints, our professional archival paper is without a doubt the best possible choice for giclée quality art prints and posters.

The material's polyethylene-coated RC base delivers outstanding color saturation for vivid prints, which ensuring an enhanced high color gamut for an amazing color reproduction which covers 99% of the Pantone grade scale.

Furthermore, our paper offers an opacity of 97% and an ISO brightness of 96%, while maintaining a consistent gloss level of 16% at 60°.

We've taken great care in not cutting corners, and we are confident that as soon as your feel your unique art print or poster in hand, you too will realize that True North prints are made to the highest possible standards.

FSC © Certified Paper

The best paper for your art can also be the best paper for our planet. Now that's a win-win.

What makes paper 'sustainable'? Like many other green buzzwords including 'organic' and 'natural,' the word 'sustainable' can be vague.

With its 'FSC-Certified' label, the Forest Stewardship Council defines a strict set of standards that paper products must meet in order to prove that they are truly environmentally and socially responsible.

The FSC requires products that bear an FSC-certified label to go through a “chain of custody” from the forest to the manufacturer to the merchant and finally, to the printer.

We're proud to use FSC Certified paper whenever possible, as it not only helps us provide the highest quality prints and posters, but allows us to do so knowing we're helping our planet.

Bring me back to Bali!

I spent an amazing 3 months in Bali (pre-pandemic, obviously) and have really been missing it. I saw an ad for this cool map poster thing, and it literally had Bali in the ad, so I figured it was a sign. Love my new map!!
