Inspired by adventure
From Bangkok to Berlin and Boston to Bogota, traveling is what inspired us to build True North.
True North Posters was founded in San Francisco, California in 2018 with one goal: building affordable, high-quality custom art prints and posters that would make people smile.
Being avid lifelong travelers, we wanted to build something that would allow people to be reminded of the adventures that inspired them. So we decided to launch True North Posters with our collective life savings, and we're proud to have remained independently owned to this day.
All of the art, none of the markup
We wanted to build an affordable way for everyone to remember the places that mean the most to them.
After returning from an amazing two weeks in the Balearic Islands, we realized that we wanted something to remind ourselves of that amazing trip - and what better than a beautifully colored map of the island?
Sadly, the only ones that we could find (that were up to our standards) were woefully overpriced, and the affordable ones didn't do justice to our memories of that trip. So we decided to create our own, but without the markups, saving close to 50% for our customers.
Proudly local & independent
From web design to logistics, we run everything out of our two-car garage. Proudly.
When we first set off on this journey, we had no idea where it would take us. We began by crafting our business plan on the back of an old roadmap of the Australian Outback (which we've now framed and placed in our studio).
From there, we built a website and designed our first product, printing and shipping them out ourselves from our "studio" - which is in reality our modest garage. We started out locally owned and independent, and we intend to stay that way.

Our first priority is to make our customers (that's you) truly happy. Everything else is secondary.
At the end of the day, you are the most important part of this equation. We all have stories of terrible customer experiences with brands that simply don't care once they've charged your credit card. From the very start, we knew we wanted to be different.

Committed to our planet
We've been all over our planet, and we love it dearly - so we're committed to giving back to it with every poster.
One of the unfortunate side effects of having traveled so much is that we've seen firsthand the destruction that modern society has done to our planet. We made the decision early on to make sure we would strive to always "do better" for our planet.
We’re committed to being an environmentally conscious small business, and as such, in addition to using sustainably sourced materials whenever possible, we are also contributing a portion of our profits to 1% For The Planet, and are matching all carbon offset donations made during checkout.
